It's News To Me #9

A day late and a dollar short, but that's just been my mind lately. Ever since finals hit, there's been a crater in my mind that no amount of intellectual stimulation has been able to fill. That may also be the job I have in the law library that's doing this to me...not that I'm complaining.

Cover Art

Our good friend EdiFanoB turned me on to The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack [US] [UK] and I gotta say that the cover alone makes me want to read it. Beautiful. Interesting. Makes me think I have to know what's going on.

News/Interviews

As you know, I had a great time with JC Marino's Dante's Journey and you can find an interview done by Mihir Wanchoo over at Fantasy Book Critic.
I just received my copy of Shadow's Son and so far the reviews have been pretty good. Here's an interview with the author, Jon Sprunk (awesome name btw) over at Mad Hatter's. He's also got an interview with Pyr editor Lou Anders.

Jonathan Maberry, author of Patient Zero [US] [UK] and The Dragon Factory [US] [UK], has been interviewed over at Speculative Book Review. He's another author who's been on my radar for a little while now and who has been described as writing "24 meets 28 Days".

And in less interesting news ;), the Hobbit is losing its director, Guillermo Del Torro, because simply put, it took too long. Makes sense to me. He's got things to do, people to see. He's staying on as screenwriter, though, and maybe possibly hopefully Peter Jackson might take over, if only no other director can be found. We can only hope.

Taking Note

Anytime a reviewer gives a book a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars I generally take note. And by that, it really just means I absolutely have to read it. The Quantum Thief was given just this by Adam at The Wertzone and suffice it to say, I've got a new book on my list.

Movies/Videos/TV

THE MACHINERY OF LIGHT trailer from Claire Haskell on Vimeo.

I just finished The Burning Skies [US] [UK] and this video gets me really pumped for the final installment, The Machinery of Light [US] [UK]. Loved The Mirrored Heavens (Autumn Rain Book 1). Sorry no Hobbits this week. :D

And that's the news...at least to me.
